Your future impact starts with a body that isn’t limited by your desk job.
Troy Reneker & James Gleeson
Hi, I'm Troy Reneker, co-founder of Future Impact Fitness
I am a Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning Coach with over 15 years experience in the industry. My whole life has been immersed in sport and physical training. From an early age I was exposed to various sports and Martial Arts where I ended up being an Australian National Karate Representative. It was through the exposure to Karate where I developed my passion for movement, biomechanics, mobility, fitness and physical training.
I have had numerous jobs in my life, some in a corporate office environment where I felt the effects and pitfalls of spending too much time in a seated position and not enough time moving. After becoming a father I decided that I needed to break free from my deskbound environment and reclaim my movement and mobility skills.
Just like you, I know what it is like to feel like you have lost your mobility, and become subdued by pain and stiffness. Having worked tirelessly to revive my movement skills, I know the uncertainty and anxiety that you would feel having to face this journey as an adult. I know what it is like to learn to be mobile and flexible as someone who is an adult.
In order to be the best I can be, I have dedicated immense time to learning and studying. My studies have seen me complete qualifications in Personal Training, Olympic Weightlifting as well as earning a Bachelor of Science in Strength and Conditioning.
Mobility, flexibility, physical training and fitness are as much a product of my life as my life has been shaped by them, each influencing the other in an unbreakable cycle of growth, discipline, and discovery …..they are not just something I do, they are who I am.
Hi, I'm James Gleeson, co-founder of Future Impact Fitness
I’m in my mid-50s now, and I’m not the athlete I once was—but in many ways, I’m better for it. My focus today is clear: extending not just my lifespan, but my health span. That means training with intent, eating well, thinking clearly, and staying grounded. Meditation, reading, and continual self-education aren’t extras for me—they’re part of the system I live by, and the same standard I bring to the people I work with.
I work as a health writer for The Carousel and as a personal trainer at Tribe Social Fitness in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. Over the past 25 years, I’ve built my career across multiple roles—athlete, coach, trainer, educator, and researcher—developing a practical, experience-based approach to health and performance. Â
In 1991, I earned an athletics scholarship to the United States, where I studied psychology, nutrition, and athletics at San Francisco State University, and completed my personal training certification through the American College of Sports Medicine. I spent much of the 1990s coaching and training in the US, which gave me a strong foundation in both performance and real-world application. Â
I’ve taken a broad path—working in snow sports across Japan in the early 2000s before returning to Australia in 2008—and that range of experience shapes how I work today. I’m not interested in fads or quick fixes. I focus on what holds up over time: building strength, improving movement, and creating habits that people can actually sustain.
If you work with us, you’re not getting a one-size-fits-all program. You’re getting decades of experience, a considered approach, and a clear focus on helping you move better, feel better, and stay that way.
